Discount Profit Calculator
See how a selling discount changes per-order contribution and campaign profit after item, postage, selling and advertising costs.
A discount cuts the selling price first
The discounted price is original price multiplied by one minus the discount percentage. Percentage selling fees are then estimated on that discounted product revenue. The stock cost, postage and fixed fee remain separate costs.
Compare before and after
At price 100, cost 50, postage 5 and a 10% selling fee, contribution before ads is 35. A 20% discount reduces the price to 80 and contribution to 17. The selling price falls 20%, but the contribution falls by more than half.
Add campaign spend if relevant
Enter the ad spend and attributed orders to move from unit economics to a campaign total. Use zero ad spend for a discount-only comparison. Returns, overheads and changes in demand caused by the discount are not predicted by this arithmetic tool.
Choose the right discount decision
A lower unit contribution may still accompany more total sales, but the calculator cannot forecast that increase. Test scenarios with realistic order counts rather than assuming the discount will generate a fixed uplift.
Common questions
Can I compare a wholesale price?
You can model it as a price scenario, provided the cost and fees accurately reflect that channel.
Does this predict how many customers buy?
No. Order count is your input, not an AI demand forecast.
Revenue is only half the story.
